Sculpted Wedge

How do you feel about the sculpted wedge?? Personally, I think they're really different and edgy. You have to be really confident and weird to wear them which is probably why I LOVE them!

These sculpted wedges by Alexander Mcqueen were on the runway this year! I little bit over the top, if you wanted these they would cost you thousands of dollars! Since I don't have that much it's knock-off city for me :) I'm okay with that though!

These are a similar but less extreme version by Giuseppe Zanotti they sell at Nordsrtom for about $800, still out of my price range but again, these are designer.

I honestly think these ones are just as cute! I honestly feel like there is no difference than a little label! Plus, these ones come in black, nude, yellow, and red! They're $50 at Forever Young! Yes, these will be my next purchase! My only downfall is they're not very easy to walk in but I think it would get better after some practice :) other than that they're FABULOUS!

Easy-to-make hair mask

I made up a recipe for a hair mask! I used things that I know do certain things to your hair like moisturize and volumize!
What you'll need:
1/4 cup yogurt
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbs olive oil
2 tsp honey
1/2 of a banana
1/2 of an avocado

*You can also add extras to brighten your hair color
  for red hair: Cranberries
  for brown hair: cocoa powder
for blonde hair: lemon juice or zest
these things will brighten up your particular hair color or highlights!

Mix everything together! (I normally start with the avocado because they don't really like to mix, they like to stay chunky! Annoying!)

**OPTIONAL**
If you aren't ready to use it right away you can throw it in the fridge for a while; this will also thicken it a bit!
*if it gets a little brown in the fridge it's okay! Avocados and bananas just get a little brown when exposed to air!

TO USE:
Put mixture on clean hair from roots to ends
*if you have gloves use them!! It can irritate your skin a little bit!
After you put it on make sure you check that none of the mixture got on your skin surrounding your scalp
Leave on for 30 min to 1 hour
Rinse mixture out of hair
Shampoo scalp and hair
Then you're done!!
You're hair should be immediately smoother, more moisturized, and more volumized! And brighter if you add the extras!! :)

DIY Ombre Hair

I've been wanting to Ombre my hair for a while now so, my sister and I have been looking for an easy way to do it ourselves. Here it is!
This is what I used

I knew I could use bleach but I didn't want to damage my hair that much (especially since I haven't dyed my hair in over two years) then I found this stuff! It still damages your hair of course just not as much as bleach would. All you have to do is spray it on your hair where you want it to be lightened then run your flat iron over it! It lightens your hair instantly! It is sort of like the stuff you spray in your hair to let the sun lighten it but instead of the sun a flat iron! What I did was sprayed about 3/4 of the ends of my hair, washed it that night, then did it a second time the next day to about 1/2 way up my hair so it faded into each other.

These are my before and afters!
I loves my natural color but i needed to do something for this summer! And the Ombre trend might only be in for a year or so, so what better time then now??

After (the sun made my skin look so bright haha and i brushed out my curls so you could see it better!)

I put my hair up in a bun so you could see the difference between the roots and the ends
This is how it looks in the sun!
This is how it looks in florescent light!
I'm totally in love with it!!

If you want an instructional video this one is pretty good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aza6H_6CnOU
She says it's non-damaging but that's false. Any heat you apply to your hair or if you're changing your hair color damages your hair no matter how subtle!
Hope you enjoyed!

DIY Kindle Case!

I made my mama a kindle cover for mother's day :) I took pics of all the steps so you can make one too!!
Some of the pics didn't turn out exactly how I wanted them to so, if you have a question about one feel free to comment!
What you'll need:
Scissors
Ruler (Mine is kind of broken but it still worked!)
Chalk (for marking where you need to cut)
Two different fabrics (you can make it all one is you want, or I think two different patterns would also look good!)
5"x7" plastic insert (I cut mine out of an old pl
astic frame cover; I'm sure you could buy a little plastic thing or even a cheap little 5x7 frame that has a plastic cover and use that)
Thread that complements the fabric (you will see some of it!)
Ribbon that complements or contrasts the fabric
                                                                                    One button
*Also, if your plastic piece has sharp corners or edges you'll need some sand paper or a nail file to sand it down. This will prevent the plastic from poking through the fabric or poking someone!
*If you're not good with a sewing machine this could probably work with fabric glue instead
Step 1:
Cut a 8"x11" piece out of each type of fabric
Cut two 2"x2" squares and two 2.5"x2.5" squares out of the fabric you intend to go on the outside of the cover (The squares will end up on the inside; this adds a little more contrast)
Cut off 4"of ribbon

Step: 2
Fold the two 2.5"x2.5" in half making a triangle
*This next part is a little tricky but I'll try to explain it the best I can
Take one of the two triangles and cut a slit approx 0.5" in the bottom right of the fold (the corner I show over there <----)
Take the other triangle make a slit approx 0.5" in the left corner of the slit (opposite side of the first)

Step 3:
Cut a square where the slits were madeFold down to create a straight seam

Step 4:
Fold small squares into triangles (these will not need to have a folded seam; they'll be sewn in)
Pin squares to the right side of the fabric that you intend to be on the inside of the case (I put the measurements on the picture <---) but basically you're making a 5"x7" square where the kindle can fit in
The two bigger squares have to be pinned 1/4 of an inch higher than the smaller ones to compensate for the 0.5" bigger they are (this will make all the squares even when you sew)

Step 5:
Pin on ribbon in the middle of the two smaller triangles so it makes a loop (make sure the where it crosses is lines up with the edge of the triangles) (this is how you'll keep it closed when finished)

Step 6:

Trim the edges of the half with the triangles to make it all one even raw edge (you will have to cut the bigger triangles a little)

Step 7:
Pin right side of the other fabric you cut before to the side with the triangles (after sewing we're going to turn in inside out; this will make it so the right side of the fabric including the side with the triangles is all facing outward)
Sew up the three edges indicated there <---- leave the furthest end open (be careful when you're4 sewing the part you trimmed earlier. you want to keep it as close to the edge as you can without going over it)

It should look like this after sewing

Step 8:
Trim the excess (make sure you don't cut your seam!)

Step 9:
It should look like this! Make sure to examine all the triangle edges (if there is something you didn't catch turn it inside out and go over it again)
*The edges of the bigger triangles (the side you made a straight edge for) will still be unsewn so make sure to leave it pinned!
Sew a line up the middle so you get the

Step 10:
Add the plastic piece in the open slit
Fold raw edges inward and pin to create a flat, straight edge
Sew edge
*If you want to be done here go ahead and sew your button on the front.

Step 11:

To make it look more like a book, or if it turned out a little bigger than you hoped (like mine did haha) fold the front edge over the plastic a little

Hand sew the edge, it should look like this :)

Step 12:

Sew the button on the front, the part with the plastic.

Voila!
Here it is!! A lovely little case for your kindle :)
Hope you enjoyed! Please comment below :)

OOTD

My OOTD! Funny story about this! So, I go to Walmart today, come around the corner of an aisle, and this lady started freaking out about me! She was like, "you look so adorable! you need fairy wings! And I love that you are showing skin! Girls should show some skin!" Then this lady makes me show her husband and they both talk about how sexy I am   right in front of me! Hahahahaha it made my whole day!!!
You definitely do show some skin with this but I think that it's just enough to be sexy rather than slutty! You really only show your legs, a little bit of your waist, and your arms! Super cute look because you really just show the best parts of your body!

You can't see it too well but that bando is flower textured. I like the way it looks from underneath my knit but you could also use something flat and even something different colored would be cute! I know the knit comes in white as well so, if you would rather do that and a bright bando go for it!! Play around :) use any of my ideas and make it your own!
Also, if you were wondering, my nails are supposed to look like the cherry blossom trees on the Arizona Tea cans!!! If you wanna know how I did it here is the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuc0iNXLZmM

Star Wars Day!

For Stars Wars day I decided to do a little fashion interpretation of lovely Princess Leia!

Here is my Fashion Interpretation of Leia's white dress outfit

I decided on a white, empire waist tunic tank top is what I like to call it :)
I chose the royal blue leggings because they kind of remind me on intergalactic jedi tight pants haha
I know Leia wears boots but all mine are in storage for summer so I chose my sparkly flats that are kind of intergalactic star looking! And Leia doesn't wear earrings but these are pretty futuristic! This is why I like fashion interpretations because they don't have to be spot on (obviously I'm not going to go out and buy a full length white tunic dress!! as if!)
Tank top: Forever 21
Leggings: Shopko
Earrings & Shoes: Aldo

For the hair I went with a queen Amidala look :) Who doesn't love Natalie Portman??

Now for my DIY!
I apologize in advance that some of my pics are kind of blurry and they're yellow, my lighting sucked!
Step 1: The part
Part your hair right down the middle! If you want you can get it more straight than that!
Step 2: School girl pigtails
Make school girl pigtails like your mama used to do for you in elementary school!
Step 3: Teasing
Pretty much just split up your hair in two parts and tease them. This adds a little more body! If you want it to be pretty sleek looking you can use some hair serum or hair oil here on the ends of your hair.
Step 4: Do the twist! haha!
Twist the hair loosely out and towards the back of the head
Step 5: Formin' buns!

You pretty much bring your twist towards the front of your head and wrap around from there! The bun will form itself. Then you bring the end around a second time and pin it. This creates the double bun effect!
Step 6: Fan!
Fan your bun out to the size you want it! If you have longer hair it will probably be a lot bigger than mine turned out! Pin it so the fan will stay up!

And there you have it! Cute little Amidala buns! :) Hope you enjoyed it and...

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!!

Halo!

Halos are one of the new big things in fashion accessories! I like them because they are really 70s meets Indie! I don't wear mine too often because after having a side part for so many years it's hard to wear a middle part. The only other way to wear them is having no part which is very Indian :) It looks good on some people! Play around with one!
My only suggestion is don't buy one! They overprice these and it literally took me half an hour to make one! Yes, I made this! So proud of myself! It only cost me $3 at Walmart for the chain and the jump rings; they all come in a pack together.
This is where I learned how to make one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W9YO2Ma044
If you make one let me know how it turns out!

OOTD

Guess who has the flu! Me! :( For this unfortunate event I traded in my daily for my jammies!
Jammies always make me feel better when I'm sick and you can definitely still look cute when you're lounging around the house all day! I usually pick a pair of shorts and my favorite band's tee shirt or any comfy cotton tee shirt I have which I usually get from the men's section; men's sizes are bigger and cut differently than girl tees which I think is better for sleeping!
My teddy bear and my L shaped pillow are some of my favorite things! An L shaped pillow is a great investment; everyone should have one! There is so many comfy ways to use it and it provides back support! woo! The only sad part is that it only comes with a white pillow case but if you're handy with a sewing machine at all the white case can be used as a pattern for another one! My mama made mine :)

Shirt: Circasurvive.com
Shorts: Forever 21
Slippers: Loft
Pillow: Shopko
Teddy: Build-a-bear!

Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow that way I can have a real outfit! Back to bed I go! Goodnight!

OOTD

My OOTD! I had an interview this morning so I wore something presentable but still fashionable!
How do you feel about nude jeans? I personally love mine! They make your legs look so much longer unlike white jeans, I feel like white jeans actually make you look shorter (maybe that's just my imagination but I swear when I see someone wearing white jeans they just look so short!) My only problem with them is that they get dirty so easily. I think I made it a good solid hour before they were dirty! I can't even imagine how fast I would get white jeans dirty.
Since everything was so neutral I went with colorful shoes, they made it much more fun!!! Everyone needs some color in their day :)
I've always wanted a long sleeve shirt; I got really lucky with this one at a closing sale! It's designer :) which I don't normally buy but it was 80% off of the sale price which made it only $7! Blew my mind! I love the sweetheart neckline it has!

Shirt: Demarcos, unfortunately I got this at the last Demarcos in the country but sometimes Forever 21 will have something similar!
Jeans: Forever 21
Jewelry: Aldo
Shoes: Aldo they're called the Brendle
